Romoeren wins the first Ski Jumping World Cup competition
Consistant performance cleared the way to Norway's Bjoern Einar Romoeren to win. Germany's Pascal Bodner was second and Austria's Wolfgang Loitzl was third.
This win was a surprise for Romoeren. During the summer training season he made small changes to his technique and they really worked out well. He hopes that, when season starts like this, it stays stable to the end. Romoeren made two strong jumps 139,5 and 139 meters.
Second place Bodmer was happy with the result. ”I couldn't dream a start like this ”.
Wolfgang Loitzl from Austria was third and he had some problems with the wind conditions. Last season he also had a strong start and he feels good about this first competition.
Norway, and Japan both had 3 jumpers in the top ten. The season opening will make the upcoming season very interesting.
A wet blizzard caused a break, but the hill was cleared very fast and there was no disadvantage to anyone.
The longest jump of the competition (141m) was shared by Pascal Bodmer and Andreas Kofler.
Next weeks competition in Lillehammer hopefully will be indicate the team leaders, which athletes to choose for the Olympics in Vancouver.
