There was over 21 500 people in Ruka Nordic Opening during the weekend. Games collected 6500 spectators on Friday, 10 000 on Saturday and 5000 on Sunday.Read->

NORTHUG WINS MEN'S 15 KILOMETERS BEFORE TWO RUSSIANS
Men's 15 km classic race turned out to be an exciting battle of seconds. Russia's Maxim Vylegzhanin led the competition from the start, but Norway's Petter Northug's pace in the last two kilometers was too much for the Russian. Northug beat Vylegzhanin by 1,2 seconds. Alexander Legkov reinforced Russia's strong performance by finishing third.Read->

Aino-Kaisa Saarinen won women´s ten kilometres
Aino-Kaisa Saarinen was the best second year running at the women’s 10 kilometres cross-country competition in Ruka. Russian Irina Khazova was second 13,1 seconds behind and third was Vibeke Skofterud from Norway.Read->

Consistant performance cleared the way to Norway's Bjoern Einar Romoeren to win. Germany's Pascal Bodner was second and Austria's Wolfgang Loitzl was third.Read->

Historical sprint victory for Kowalczyk
Women's sprint race was Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk's domination from beginning to the end. She was the fastest one in the semi-finals and kept her speed in the finals, finishing 0,9 seconds before Petra Majdic of Slovenia. Majdic had won the sprint in Ruka three times in row, but today her winning streak was broken. Alena Prochazkova (SVK) came third before Aino-Kaisa Saarinen (FIN).Read->

Norway celebrates in men's sprint
Men's sprint competition didn't offer a lot of surprises for the cheering crowd. Norway's Ola Vigen Hattestad was the fastest and his fellow Norwegian Öystein Pettersen came second. Russian Nikita Kriukov prevented Norway's triple victory by finishing third ahead of John Kristian Dahl.Read->

Jacobsen had best form on Ski Jumping trial round
Norway's Andreas Jacobsen and Austria's Andreas Kofler both had 143 meters jumps on individual competitions trial round. Jacobsen's jump was made one starting gate lower then Kofler's, on the uphill speed Kofler was 1.2 kilomerers per hour faster.Read->

Austria won the Ski Jumping Team competition
Austria took seasons first Team Competition. It was up to the last jumpers. German's Martin Schmitt's 123 meters jump was not enough when Thomas Morgenstern made 139 meters. On the final results just 14 points separated top two teams. Finland was third 55 points behind Austria. Read->

World Cup Ski Jump and Nordic Combined are rescheduled from Trondheim to Lillehammer
The FIS Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined World Cup competitions in Trondheim, Norway are cancelled due to technical problems and have been rescheduled in Lillehammer. Two competitions take place fifth and sixth December 2009.

The qualification round in Ski Jumping was postponed to Friday afternoon. 
The qualification round in Ski Jumping was postponed due to unfair wind conditions. The jury decided to start over the qualification when almost fifty athletes had jumped down the hill. At the time Janne Ahonen got the lead with his 132,5 meters jump. The action of the jury did not bring the results that were hoped for. Read->

Magnus Moan is happy that Hannu Manninen is back 
There were two happy athlets at the Nordic Combined press conference at Ruka, Magnus Moan and Anssi Koivuranta. Moan placed second in last season at the World Cup and he is ready to challenge the last season's winner Koivuranta seriously. Moan is sure that Anssi is he's biggest competitor and it would be very challenging and nice to win him. Read->

New Ski Jumping rules not used in Ruka 
FIS council decided not to use the new rules in Ruka ski jumping competition. The Team competition on friday and the Individual Large Hill competition on saturday, are going to be jumped with traditional rules. Read->
