Evening reception for media

We warmly welcome you to the evening reception for media at the Hotel and Restaurant Royal Ruka on Saturday, Nov. 26th 2011 at 8.00 pm. Please, sign up for the dinner in Media Centre or to soili.hirvonen@malja.com before Friday 25th at 9.00 pm. There are places for 100 media representatives.
Reception is hosted by organisation of Nordic Opening and Eurosport.

Transportation to the media hotel Kuusamon Tropiikki is organised to leave the Royal Ruka at 11.00 pm.

Welcome!

FIS World Cup Ruka Nordic Opening opens the World Cup season 2011 by bringing all three Nordic disciplines into a single stadium. During one long weekend, ten World Cup competitions will be arranged in Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined and Cross Country.

Media Center

The Media Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Ruka Conference Center at Hotel Rantasipi Rukahovi (200 meters from the Stadium).

Transportation

There is shuttle transportation between the Kuusamo city center, the media Hotel Holiday Club Tropiikki and the Media Center approximately every one hour (see SkiBus schedule at www.nordicopening.com - Transportation & Accommodation - Buses). Media representatives can use the shuttle transportation for free by showing their ID-cards.

Accreditation

All media representatives must be accredited with a photo ID-card.

The Accreditation Office is located in the reception of Hotel Rantasipi Rukahovi (address: Rukankyläntie 15, 93825 Rukatunturi).

Result Service for Media

Results, news, start lists, and other official information will be published on the event’s website at www.nordicopening.com. Prints are available at the Media Center.

Media Lounge

The Media Lounge is located on the second floor of the Stadium building in the race area, offering indoor premises for following the competitions via TV. There are also printed results and coffee available at the Media Lounge.

Media Café

Coffee and sandwiches are served free of charge at the Media Center during its opening hours.

Parking

Media parking area is in front of the Media Center. Parking permits are delivered from the Media Info at the Media Center according to online reservations (accreditation form). Please note that there is only a limited amount of media parking permits available.

Safety Lockers

There are safety lockers for temporary storage at the Media Center. Please contact media secretaries on the matter.

Commentary Booths

Commentary booths with results monitors and ADSL-lines are reserved for the companies with the live publishing rights. Commentating is forbidden outside the Commentary Booths.

Photo Areas

Areas for photographers are signed with number 10 (see the map attached).

In general, photographers are allowed to walk beside the ski tracks while taking photos. However, THE SKI TRACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE CROSSED. Photographers must also choose their shooting locations carefully so that they do not disturb the TV cameras on site. Extra permissions for photographing in other areas can be given by Media  coordinator Soili Hirvonen.

According to FIS rules, photographers must have FIS photo bibs to be allowed to take photos in the race areas.

Mixed Zone Areas

The common mixed zones will be serving all media.
A special armband is required to enter the Dedicated Mixed Zone and the Eng Mixed Zone (DEDICATED and ENG).

Interviews are allowed only in these areas and at the Media Center.

TV Areas

Technical personnel of YLE will serve radio and TV representatives in TV areas (see map
areas signed with number 8).

FIS Photo bibs are delivered from the Media Center’s Media Info against a deposit of 20 EUR (cash only).

SMS Service

FIS Cross-Country provides an own SMS Service for the Media with necessary information like if a favourite athlete is starting due to illness etc. If you or any media representative from you World Cup event would be added you can add yourself by the following procedure.

Award Ceremonies

Award ceremonies will take place immediately after every competition.

Photographers are allowed to go behind the Host Broadcaster YLE’s camera positions in the Ski Jumping’s landing area before the ceremonies starts (security personnel will assist).

Press Conferences

Winners' interviews
will be held 20 minutes after every Award Ceremony.

In Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping, interviews take place at the main Media Center, and in Cross Country at the Sub Media Center (2nd floor of the Stadium building).

The top three athletes of each competition will be invited to the press conference. In charge of the winners' interviews are Chief of Media Jaakko Kantola and FIS Media Coordinators.
